Dez Bryant came to the Dallas Cowboys to play football, not to carry another player's pads. But the rookie wide receiver's refusal to participate in rookie initiation proved a bit expensive when he had to pick up a $ 54,896 dinner tab for his teammates.According to ESPN.com, veteran wide receive Roy Williams made sure that Bryant got his comeuppance for the hazing slight. At the time, Williams excused the slight, but told Bryant he'd have to take the team out to dinner and buy Williams some shoes. The Dallas Morning News noted that Bryant went along with the dinner idea and invited the offensive player to dinner. To make sure Bryant got the hint, Williams also invited the defensive players.About the shoe request, the Dallas Morning News reported Bryant bought new shoes not just William, but also his fellow receivers, Air Jordan Olympic 7s.An expensive night indeed, but then .. more»

Arthur Penn, filmmaker who embraced realism, dies

John Macdougall / AFP/Getty Images Director Arthur Penn, who vaulted to prominence with "The Miracle Worker" and made the defining film of the 1960s, "Bonnie and Clyde," died of congestive heart failure Tuesday night at his Manhattan home. He was 88. Mr. Penn's older brother, photographer Irving Penn, died in October 2009. Arthur Penn's career was one of both frustration and triumph. He left Hollywood in 1959, after Warner Bros.' altering of his debut film, "The Left Handed Gun" starring Paul Newman, and then years later it seemed that Hollywood left him. Yet Mr. Penn lived long enough to see "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967) take its place among the masterpieces of cinema, a classic by which .. more»

CNN accuses James O’Keefe of bizarre prank – Hot Air

There’s no way to summarize this story. It’s simply too detailed and too weird, so take the time to either watch the clip below at Mediaite or read CNN’s write-up (and Boudreau’s blog post) about what went down. Here’s my best try: She says she was invited to meet O’Keefe to talk about a documentary on young conservatives that CNN was making. One of his colleagues allegedly approached her when she arrived and told her that it was a set-up, that she was going to be invited onto a boat and then pranked by O’Keefe hitting on her during their chat while hidden video cameras rolled. Boudreau decided to leave, and then O’Keefe’s colleague e-mailed her a series of e-mails and a “script” for the prank showing that the boat was set up to be an over-the-top “palace of pleasure” replete with strawberries, champagne, a “condom jar,” fuzzy handcuffs, .. more»
