Before Leaving On Your Campervan Trip

-ALWAYS read the terms and conditions of the rental -in particular about insurance. You don’t want any nasty surprises at the depot.

WHAT TO PACK IN YOUR LUGGAGE

-ALWAYS pack soft luggage -most depots offer suitcase storage facilities.
-NEVER pack too much, unless it is winter you’ll regret it.
-WE have always found a soft esky used as hand luggage serves 2 fantastic purposes. Hand luggage obviously and more importantly, cold beverages for those awesome sunsets.
-If you are travelling to the Kimberley region of Australia or any desert location -pack thermals including a beanie – I am not kidding, it gets sooo cold at night.
-INVEST in little miners torches on a band around your head – much easier to cook a BBQ or get to a toilet. These are available from outdoor stores or camping supply stores for about $10.
-PACK an ocky strap – you never know when you will come in handy. An ocky strap is an elastic tie down strap with hooks at each end.
-WET ones are very handy – pre packaged wet towels.
-ZIPLOCK bags are also handy.

KEEPING SAFE AND HEALTHY WHILE TRAVELLING

-ALWAYS take plenty of water when hiking or even just walking. This is very important in both Australian and NZ.
-ALWAYS check the rim of your glass when enjoying a nice sauv blanc at the end of the day in the Top End. Fire ants take offence at attempted ingestion and will bite.
-CAMPERVANS have small cupboards and drawers everywhere. Use them. Don’t leave items unsecured in the main cabin of the vehicles.
-HAVE an understanding of basic first aid before you travel -Australia has some nasty critters than can and do bite.
-IF sign says ‘Crocodiles – do not swim here’ do exactly that. DO NOT SWIM! Same applies to sharks and jellyfish. You’d be surprised how many people ignore the warnings.

FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD

-THE fridges in campervans are relatively small and are running on battery power when you’re driving. Don’t overstock them. Plan your stops and always try to buy what you will need for 2-3 days. This is particularly important in the warmer regions.
-HAVE your meat vacuum packed wherever possible as this will make it last a bit longer. Most butchers will off this service free of charge.
-PACK really easy food to microwave: rice, noodles, macaroni etc. It’s amazing what you can come up with when you really scan the ‘pre-packages’ aisles of the supermarket.
-THE internet is a never ending source of camping recipes, check it out.

ALWAYS have fun and relax!. Think about your destination and the areas you want to visit. Don’t try and fit it all in as you will not succeed and will need another holiday to get over the one you’ve just had. Just ask my husband!

The beginning of the school year is a tough time for everyone: students find it a major shift from their once carefree summer-time; parents need to get back into the routine of schedules, lunches, timetables and homework; and teachers are busy programming, preparing classrooms, schedules and completing other related teacher administrivia. The universal theme, traveling teddy bears, unites three parties in a co-operative learning environment and is the focus of this article.

Education is becoming increasingly more challenging for parents, teachers and students so it’s important to focus on finding a venue that will serve many purposes. Namely: motivate, engage, and excite the student; meet curriculum requirements to be delivered by teachers; and satisfy and give encouragement to parents that their students are enjoying their educational experiences. Teddy bear travels focuses on learning through the eyes of a teddy bear. Coincidently, student learning is enhanced by direct involvement in this approach to learning, and it often occurs without the students being aware.

One way to educate with teddy bears is to incorporate teddy bear travels into the curriculum at the beginning of the school year. Over the course of the academic year, bears travel with a companion, exploring different destinations and the traveling companion keeps a record, in a teddy bear journal, of the many experiences that they have had. This traveling companion could be a student’s friend, a friend of the family, or it could be the student himself going on a weekend excursion or family trip over the holidays. The teddy bear travels occur over the course of the school year, with postcards being sent back to the student in the classroom, chronicling the various destinations that have been visited. Towards the end of the school year, the traveling teddy bear returns to the classroom with its travel journal, pictures that have been taken and any memorabilia that has been collected along the way. Students have spent time over the course of the year, reading, writing, and communicating with others about their bears’ adventures. These teddy bear travel experiences have been integrated into the existing curriculum, with students being motivated and engaged in their own learning.

By the end of the year, you find that this is what happened along the way: students were actively involved in their own learning; parents were excited and pleased that their students were interested in their own learning; and teachers found students motivated to learn about where their bears have been and what they had done.

Therefore, a win-win-win situation has occurred and student learning has been achieved through a universal ambassador in the traveling teddy bear.

People love to travel, whether it be on a cruise ship, train, airplane or automobile. There are many items that people use frequently while traveling- tote bags, cameras, water bottles etc. If you are looking for a way to give your business a boost you should consider giving promotional gifts to your customers. They will appreciate receiving an item that they can use on their trip and they will also remember who gave it to them, because your promotional products will be emblazoned with the logo and information of you organization.

A promotional tote bag is an essential product for tourists. It is used to carry many items and has a large printable area so that your information is very visible. The tote bag has plenty of room to carry travel essentials like cameras, snacks, and sunglasses. Are you sending your clients to a location that has beaches? The tote bag is perfect for carrying beach towels, water bottles, lotion and lunch. There is even room for the inflatable beach ball for the kids. By the way, that inflatable beach ball can be imprinted with your information as well.

Another item that is used by anyone that has a suitcase is a luggage tag. A promotional luggage tag that is brightly colored can help someone to spot their bag more easily on the luggage carousel at the airport. Promotional luggage tags are inexpensive and have a high level of exposure. Every time your customer carries or opens their suitcase they will be reminded of how well your company took care of them and their needs.

Travelling can be stressful at times and that is why a stress ball can be a perfect item to give to your clients as a business gift. People squeeze stress toys to help relieve physical and mental stress. Stress balls can be made in just about any shape and there are many shapes that are travel-related that you can incorporate in your promotional products; airplanes, trains, cruise ships, or a destination landmark are good choices. Perhaps your company specializes in tours of North America- A stress ball in the shape of the Statue Of Liberty is sure to put a smile on your client’s face and your company information printed on it means they will remember who gave it to them.

Promotional gifts are a proven way to increase your brand awareness. All of the aforementioned items are perfect for a trip and you might want to consider a tote bag filled with items that have the information of your organization printed on them. Imagine how much your customer will appreciate being handed a promotional tote bag containing a sports bottle, luggage tags, beach towel, inflatable beach ball and a stress toy. They are sure to remember you. Find out more about how promotional gifts can help your travel agency by contacting your promotional product supplier.

Travel Right and Light

Just imagine this: you’re given the chance to travel to the moon. Do you think you’ll be toting a large bag for your space suit? Nah. You’d be pulling along a small bag and tote the right travel accessories to cram in your gear. A leather briefcase and a padfolio are the travel accessories you’ll have to bring along on your space sojourn with the NASA astros.

You don’t have to bring in your wardrobe. Two shirts and pants and a pair of shorts will do. You’ll only wear a spacesuit if you’re going to do a spacewalk and NASA will sell you that for an atrocious fee. For your clothes, bring those you can’t stand to wear because you’ll have to burn them all as part of protocol.

But traveling to the moon is a remote possibility for ordinary mortals whose travels are limited to the four horizons of the globe. Wherever your trip, you have to have the appropriate travel accessories. It’s painful to see a man or woman balancing luggage and bags and racing for a taxi; traveling light is politically correct nowadays, when people seem to be in always in a hurry.

Travels For Business or Leisure

Traveling businesspersons have been targeted with travel accessories by companies that understand their business needs. They have created padfolios, passport holders, portfolios, briefcases, and travel alarm clocks. The list is even longer, but you can get what you need for a specific travel.

For those adventure travels, you won’t be caught dead with a leather briefcase, would you? You’ll live in a backpack, and learn how to live with the barest essentials – an extra pair of pants, three shirts, and two shorts. Stack up on the unmentionables to last you the entire trip. No extra shoes please, and oh, don’t forget to bring your toothbrush.

Women are harder to convince to travel light. They must bring that dress along just in case, or two extra pairs of shoes, just in case. They never know who they might meet. Some of them bring along an extra empty suitcase to fill with the spoils of their shopping expeditions. With women, they always bring along best travel accessories, again, just in case.

Weekend Sleepovers

Now this is somewhat tricky and depends where you’re going and who’ll you be with for the sleepover. If it’s an overnight camping break, women have to bring their tubes and jars and an extra of everything. The abundance of travel accessories make it easy for them to pack everything in the right container – a backpack or a make-up or toiletry bag. If it’s a sleepover with friends in the neighborhood, an overnight bag can accommodate your flimsy PJs and your makeup.

Young men do have their sleepovers, too. They just bring a pair of boxer shorts and an overnight shirt. No extras. That’s how guys are.

Want to travel in class? Then you need to travel with classic Louis Vuitton luggage. The name Louis Vuitton has a legacy for creating quality as well as luxurious pieces of luggage and other things of that nature since 1854. The brand offers a wide array of different things that you can choose from and utilize to do anything with. There are various accessories, luggage and custom designed products that are available through this famous designer.

The products are for sale all around the world. You can find them in the United States, the UK, and France as well. There are different travel accessories that you can purchase that will fit your designated trip. When people travel they usually only travel with the amount of things that they are going to need.

You will run across a plethora of places that offer luggage that does not fit your specific needs. Some of the bags may be deemed to be too small, while others are simply too big. And the humorous thing about it all is all of the luggage bags are made in a square shape. Everyone knows that not everything in this life is perfectly square.

Regardless of the shape other luggage companies want you to be able to fit everything that you need for your trip in this complex square bag. But, the reality of the matter is most of the time people are forced to leave things behind simply because they do not fit in their luggage bags. You should not have to leave anything that you need in order to have a great trip behind.

When you travel with classic Louis Vuitton Luggage, you are getting the optimum luggage that you need at a fairly reasonable price. All of the individual luggage bags are made in a variety of different shapes and sizes. The company realizes that everything that you wish to take around on your trip is not going to be square objects.

For people that are always on the go, Louis Vuitton has the perfect carry on bags that you can take with you. A lot of people that have children or simply have a lot of things to do love the carry on bags because they can actually be utilized to carry on all the things that you need while you are enjoying your plane ride to your particular destination.

You should not have to settle for a monotonous square bag when obviously hardly anything that you own is in a perfect square. Variety is the spice of life, and the Louis Vuitton luggage definitely preys off of this fact. The luggage is incredibly durable and a great fashion statement to make at the same time as well.

Everyone wants something that draws attention to their bags. If you have ever been through a bag exchange at the airport this can be extremely frustrating especially when all the bags look exactly the same; traveling with a Louis Vuitton bag will assure that your luggage stands out from all the rest, you can be in and out of the airport in no time at all.

If Christmas, graduation, a birthday or just a couple of weeks’ vacation is coming and a man in your life is thinking of traveling, you will be thinking about the perfect gift for him to take with him. Our list of 5 great travel gifts for men focuses on gadgets. Why gadgets? One thing all men have in common is that they love gadgets, but they never get around to buying them for themselves. Check out these high-tech gadgets. He’ll love any of them and at least one of them will be the perfect travel gift for him.

Kindle Wireless: All travelers read. Even guys who never read at home read when they’re traveling. Everyone agrees the Amazon Kindle wireless reading device is the best e-reader on the market. The beauty of the e-reader is that you can carry an entire library in one lightweight device. He can take a few books with him and download more while he’s traveling. If he’s a reader, he will love the Kindle – guaranteed. If he’s not, he will appreciate it while he’s traveling and then let you use it when he gets home. Either way, you can’t lose with Kindle. Canary Wireless Hotspotter: This one’s for the guy who can’t live without his wireless connection. It’s a bit geeky, but he’ll love it when he’s in a small town in Greece and having trouble finding a Wi-Fi signal. With a single click of a button, the Hotspotter will find up to 20 Wi-Fi networks and give you their signal strengths and everything else you need to know to get connected. We learned about this gadget from a tech geek we know. The only thing he doesn’t like about it is that everyone he meets on his travels bugs him to find Wi-Fi connections for them. Lingo Voyager: When you’re traveling, two things you don’t want to do are limit your travels to places where you can find someone who speaks English, and carry a fat stack of foreign language books with you. The Lingo Voyager Translator speaks 14 different languages. Just type in your phrase in English and let it do your talking for you. Not only will it save him a lot of hassles on his travels, this cool gadget is also a great conversation starter! Weather Station Keychain: Choose this one if you’re looking for an inexpensive gadget that he will love. The Weather Station Keychain costs just over $20, but gives him an LED flashlight, an alarm clock, calendar and the weather, all in one compact package. Who really wants to take a flashlight and a bulky alarm clock with them when they travel? This gadget is worth the money just for those things. The fact that it predicts the weather by measuring temperature and humidity is just a bonus. EnerG iPhone Case: If he doesn’t have an iPhone, then you may have to add one of those to his gift list, but if he does, he will probably break into tears when he opens this great gadget. The EnerG iPhone case contains a built-in lithium battery that extends the time between iPhone recharges by up to 13 hours. This gives him plenty of battery life to watch movies in flight, use Google maps to find his way around Florence or London or talk to you on the phone while he’s traveling.

Honestly, there’s not a traveling man alive who wouldn’t love any of these travel gifts. Men love to have gadgets whether they use them or not. The greatest thing about these travel gifts for men is that he will actually use them and think of you every time he does.

Travel expenses are another of those “obvious” expenses that most Sole Proprietors incur. It is also one of the most abused small business expenses, so it’s important that you understand the basic rules so as not to run afoul of the IRS in the event of an audit. And Line 24a (along with 24b, Meals) is one of the most frequently audited lines on Schedule C. So the purpose of this article is to explain the rules on travel expenses so that you know what you can and cannot deduct. If you follow these rules carefully and are ever audited, you’ll have nothing to worry about.

The first “ground rule” is the obvious one: the travel expenses must be related to an overnight trip of a business purpose. You can only deduct travel expenses for yourself and your employees. If your spouse or children happen to travel with you, their travel expenses are not deductible, unless your spouse or child is an employee of your business and there is a bona fide business purpose for their presence on the trip.

The two most common types of deductible travel expenses are transportation and lodging. Let’s take a close look at both of them.

Transportation is the cost of getting to and from your destination. It can include the cost of traveling by plane, train or bus, or any other form or public transportation. If you drive your own car, you would deduct the transportation expense based on whether you are using the Mileage Method or the Actual Expense Method for your vehicle deduction.

Lodging is the cost of staying in a hotel or motel. What happens if your spouse travels with you and your spouse is not your employee? How do you determine the deduction for the hotel room? If the cost of the room is the same regardless of the number of people staying in the room, then you get to deduct the actual cost of the room. But if the cost of two people is more than the cost of one person, your deduction is the one-person room rate, not the two-person room rate.

What about the cost of meals? You do get to deduct meals while on an overnight business trip, but not on Line 24a. Meals expenses, for either overnight business trips or for local business meals, are deductible on Line 24b.

With regard to both lodging and meals, you can deduct the actual cost of the expense (for meals, that means actual cost times 50%) or you can take a deduction based on the Per Diem Method, regardless of the actual expense amount. A per diem is a standard IRS-approved amount determined by the location of the trip. For details on per diem rates and how they work, see IRS Publication 1542.
